Major update - we got panels

solar It's been a long time coming but the panels are in! This actually happened a few weeks ago but I'm only getting around to documenting it now. We received most of the recent order about a month ago. I almost immediately added the second bank of batteries doubling our power storage capacity to 800Ah at 24v and connected the MX-60 charge controller. I also took the opportunity to clean up some of the wiring, install DC Bus Bar and the breakers for the panels/charge controller.

For a few weeks I'd just lean 2 of the panels up against the side of the house and plug them in with an extension cord to the system. This worked fine until they shipped us the rack system and we're happy to have them permanently installed and charging all day, every day.

Dad came up a few weekends ago and helped start the build out of a battery box and venting system. Right now we just leave a window or garage door cracked to vent out anything that might bubble off the batteries, but come winter that will no longer be a good option. He also brought up Nonno's (my great-grandfather) old wine press. It hasn't been setup in years and we're honored to have it in the house. It needs a little work and TLC to get it running again but should be good as new.

Blueberry season has just about come to a close and we're in the second week of blackberry season. Elaina found a recipe for blackberry wine (more like a mead using honey instead of sugar) which is why we now have Nonno's wine press. We have blueberries and jam coming out of everywhere we could fit them and Elaina still has dreams of picking blueberries.
