Well, I'm a Grafton resident now. I've been living up here full time since the beginning of the month. It's very frustrating being away from the ones I love but I still see them a few times a week. Last weekend we brought the cats up to stay for good, which was quite an adjustment for them (and me). We put collars on them a few weeks ago to used to wearing them, because we hope to allow them outdoors occasionally.
Elaina's last day at Oscient will be Wednesday 10/26/2005 so she's packing up the apartment and trying to transfer her responsibilities to others. We were able to rent the apartment for 10/28/2005 to one of our other tenant's (Pam) boyfriend Kyle. I've been working full time and trying to come up to speed as quickly as possible at my new company, TeleAtlas. What a great group of people to work with. Once a week I drive down to the city direcly from work, pack up the Suburban, watch a few hours of TV, catch up with the Elaina, sleep, shower and drive to work for the next morning. It's not great, but it's not horrible either. Fortunately it's only a little over 2 hours door to door, primarily highway. The Suburban has been getting about 15MPG, which believe it or not is GREAT! A typical October week of daily commuter (48 miles round trip to work+1 city round trip) is exactly 375 miles. Last time I filled it up it was a little under 25 Gallons. What else is new? It's rained for the last 2 weeks or so, I literally haven't opened my sunglass case since before I started at my job on the 3rd. Keene, NH was completely under water and a few other surrounding towns after last weeks storm. Hopefully they're OK after another 2 days of rain. Fortunately we built our place at 1200 feet above sealevel (for a good reason) and shouldn't have any problems unless it rains straight through March. I heard morning radio show this Friday with local (Grafton) resident John Barbiarz (Libertarian Party 2002 Candidate for New Hampshire Governor). The show host asked why he chose to move out to the middle of nowhere, Grafton, NH. John responded saying that because of the distance from major cities, surrounding mountains and wind patterns Grafton was pretty much impervious to any kind of chemical or nuclear (Bush would say nucular) attack. Yay, another win for the Bergamini's. I've been playing with a demo unit TomTom Go 300 and it's the coolest thing in the world. We are going to have huge personal navigation booths at Circuit City and Best Buy stores nation wide this holiday season with the TeleAtlas logo. Go buy one! |
