I was supposed to drive Elaina to the airport, but she ended up taking a cab in. I decided to skip the crazy Friday night drive and left Saturday morning and made it to the house before noon.
We released a few cans of bug bomb last week in the house, and there were dead bugs (mostly black flies) everywhere. I was kind of glad that I was there alone so Elaina didn't have to see any of the carnage. I was able to get most of the house cleaned up so she'll never know the extent of the mayhem. Daisy and I went for a little ride in the truck and took a walk out towards the cliff. Got a cool picture of Cardigan, a cool multicolored stone wall and the house through the woods. I've been bummed for a while that we forgot to put an outlet between the great room windows, and it was such an obvious place. Ted noticed a little bulge there last time he was up, but I couldn't find any wires running to the area so I figured we missed it. This time I didn't miss it... we did put a box in there, but the plaster guys wallboarded right over it. Oh well, 20 minutes with the rototool, elecrical pliers and some tape and now we have an outlet. I think it was around that time I took this nice picture of Cardigan and the wall. I was able to get a bunch of little stuff off my plate this weekend though. The wiring in our (blue) bedroom is complete, the doors now have knobs and almost have thresholds. Dad gave us a plastic utility sink a while ago, and we finally brought it up a few weeks ago but I only got around to hooking it up this weekend. It's going to be so nice to have a place to fill bottles, wash hands, etc. I also skipped the typical Sunday afternoon commute home and stayed the night. Monday was about 20 degrees at around 7AM, but it was fine inside. All of daisy's footprints had frozen over, and I just had to take a picture. I drained and left the house by 8:30AM and in Somerville a little after 10. |
