Nature is cool - cold actually with a frost last night. |

I was driving home with an over-full Suburban last night and just a hundred yards or so before the driveway I saw eyes in the woods. I immediately slowed down figuring those Navy Seal snipers had finally found me. Occam's Razor turned out to be true and it was a little doe starting to run across the road. I immediately stopped, initially just to watch it spring across, but then realized they rarely travel solo. My suspicion was true and there was another deer to my left ready to cross, it came immediately to a halt, did a 180 and high-tailed it out of there.
When I arrived at the house, I noticed these funny white things in the sky. They looked like little glowing dots, oh yeah they were stars. It has been about 2 solid weeks of clouds and rain up here and I had almost forgotten what the Milky Way looks like. As I was letting my eyes adjust to the darkness, a shooting star crossed where I was looking. Not an unusual occurence, but it's still fun to see them.
This morning as I was brushing my teeth I was watching the sun hitting the trees as it came up over the horizon. We had a hard frost last night and best I can figure a lot of leaves died last night, but were only held onto the trees by the ice. As the sun started to hit trees blankets and blankets of leaves would just start to fall off the tress. It was as if the trees were raining leaves. Hopefully it will happen again tomorrow morning so Elaina will be able to witness it. She really loves fall, and I'm sure it will happen again next year; she really needs it this year. |
