Our friends came to visit us last night and gave me quite a fright, as I'm sure I did to them. We met last spring when they were being "pursued" by a car down Turnpike Rd. It's difficult to tell from this picture, but their heads are as tall as me! Also, please notice all the white stuff still on the ground and PITY US!!! |

I am tired of winter. Although the calendar boasts spring, the outdoors looks nothing like it. We got another 4 or 5 inches of fresh powder on Friday. "Fresh powder" makes it sound like something positive. It was just another blow for me. The driveway was almost clear of snow. The piles were working their way down the garden fence. This is demoralizing. |

I had to write the following for a couple reasons and rather than let it get lost in my increasing number of unfinished articles, I thought it might be nice to share... because sharing is caring. Do you know what your footprint is? Check it out at www.rprogress.org - click on the link on the left. Happy New Year everyone! |

Well, fall is here and it has been beautiful. I'm working on a number of posts to catch up on all the goings on, but Elaina just sent me this link and I wanted to get it out. Life is going well and we're still alive, just too busy for more frequent updates. (Click on the image to go to the yankeemagazine.com page.) |

Just thought I would post something to compare against to show how brilliant the colors are. Clearly this was before the grass really took and it's a little different angle. |

Reading back, last year Uncle Jack came over and helped excavate for the wind turbine. It took us about a year to finish that project, primarily because of the bearing failure and water damage to the turbine. Building up to my birthday this year was making sure that was finished. To provide me a little motivation, Elaina bought me a Lowe "Sea Nymph" L1232 flat bottom jon boat. A year or so ago my dad handed down his 15 year old Minn-Kota trolling motor. We had a left over 12v deep-cycle battery from Costco we used to use with the pocket inverters. The other battery is currently in the truck, but this one was free just like the trolling motor! |

So we have been having quite the unseasonable weather here lately. It snowed about 9 inches and then changed to a wintery mix and then rain. The winds were pretty unbelievable, stayed above 40MPH I would guess with gusts into the 60s at times. It wasn't worth risking the ride in yesterday, especially since both of our offices were without power. We decided to try and make it in today and we literally couldn't get there, all 4 roads out of here were completely closed. Pulling out of our driveway, we found this Jeep to the left. The road closed sign between the cones had blown over, but I think the crushed Jeep did a good enough job of letting you know you shouldn't try and pass. |
